Sires

The Silvers

We’re pleased to announce the addition of a 20-month-old bull described as a “stand out” with a large eye muscle area which was sashed as supreme exhibit at the 51st Murray Grey National Show and Sale at Wodonga 24th April 2017.

The judge, Ms Guaran, said the bull had a “great eye muscle area, the right fat cover, a good set of testicles” and was free moving. Purchased due to the strong maternal lines in his breeding, to provide softness, fat cover and further develop our carcass qualities.

Other bloodlines still in use within our stud and commercial operations:

Monterey Diverse D169
D169

Monterey Frame Up F47

Lindsay Hostage H44

Unbelievable temperament from the calves he left on the ground. Added into the arsenal to improve carcass qualities. A son of Kelso Cracker who had fantastic carcass but with ultra low calving qualities.

Monterey Engine Driver E32
E32
Used in our AI program to add size and muscle. A powerful bull with outstanding growth EBVs on good feet exhibiting terrific top line, depth of body and thickness throughout. Despite high EBV for calving, we’ve experienced mid 30kg calves consistently.

Monterey Kyoto K97
K97
Full of red meat, nice head, strong topline, tight sheath, good depth of body and excellent feet. Top 1-5% for 200,400 and 600 growth plus top 1% for carcass weight and Top 1-5% for EMA and RBY. Great temperament however despite moderate birth EBV, dropped from the breeding program as calves at the top end of desired scale. Nevertheless magnificent calves.

Monterey Impeccable Z10

Used extensively in our AI program over 100 cows. Despite being used to a range of cows with different sires, the consistency of his progeny was extraordinary. Wonderful low birth weight calves that grow quickly. Hard to fault because despite being born in 2004, 600 day EBV still at +61.

The Blacks

Ascot Hallmark H147
H147

Weighing off grass at 1082 at 24 months of age with a SC of 45cms and FS 7.

Milwillah Gatsby G279
G279
The 5th highest price for an Angus bull in Australia. We added his genetics because of his outstanding individual data – 2nd in contemporary for fat, IMF and weight at 18 months, 4th for scrotal. Tremendous maternal pedigree featuring 5 iconic Te Mania cows – R182, R426, P6, M118 and D51. Claimed as one of the soundest bulls in years – excellent structure, sound feet and clean sheath. Gatsby posses natural softness and athleticism coupled with tremendous phenotype rarely seen in a bull with such extraordinary carcass EBVs.

Granite Ridge Kalahari K136

Purchased for the tremendous carcass attributes of +11.8 EBV for EMA, positive fats for both rump and rib fat and a milk EBV of +26. He’s not the tallest of bulls but we’re breeding beef not giraffes. Out of Vermont Dream B272 and sired by TC Aberdeen 759, this bull has the breeding in his bloodlines. With a birth EBV of +2.9 whilst still offering a +110 600 day EBV. Picture below of sire TC Aberdeen 759. Breed very consistent small calves that grow once they hit the ground.
